What is a nakshatra name?

In Vedic tradition each of the 27 nakshatras (lunar mansions) is divided into four padas, and each pada has a sound (akshara). A child is often named starting with the syllable of the pada the Moon occupied at birth — for example Chu, Che, Cho or La for Ashwini.

How do I find my baby’s nakshatra?

The birth nakshatra comes from the Moon’s position at the exact time and place of birth. A panchang or an astrologer can give it from the birth details; the pada then tells you which syllable to use.
